IT Strategy - Elements of IT Strategy

All businesses should have a strategy, whether it is simply to sell a product to pay the bills or something much grander. A business without a plan is like a ship without a rudder. Yet how many of us have time to sit down and write our intentions?

Small businesses have less time than most, having to make sales, create a marketing plan, deliver product or services there is little time for much else. Yet knowing what you want to achieve and how you plan on achieving it gives us a focus. Having a focus means that anything that falls outside is less important.

Yet somehow day to day problems and interruptions distract us from the goals we want and need to achieve.

Having and IT strategy or roadmap means that you know what you need to do to meet the business goals. An IT strategy should cover many elements as well as what you need to do and when you need to do it.  So why not consider a few of these elements:

  • data recovery
  • system recovery
  • Business continuity/recovery planning
  • access to systems
  • software requirements
  • Growth

If that leaves you feeling you need some help call us.
